THE COST OF ONE IGNORANT LEADER

An ignorant leader is one who has no knowledge of how to lead the office he/she occupies.

 “it is a shame that it is these ignorant people, the most unschooled, the most uncreative, the most unskilful among us, who would make themselves the lord and leaders of us all; who would force their extreme policies and childish ideologies on us; who would invade our states and cities and homes. I personally resent it bitterly.” 

1) One ignorant leader in office can crumble the economy of a whole nation within the shortest possible time

2) One unschooled leader in office can turn the progress of a nation 180 degrees backward

(3) One ignorant doctor will kill more patients than save any life

4) It will take one ignorant teacher to impact partial knowledge to his/her students

5) Just one ignorant pastor is enough to lead many to hell

6) It doesn’t matter how educated the people of a nation/state/organization are, they will need just one ignorant leader to relegate that nation from a 1^st world to a 3^rd world nation, from a developing to an underdeveloped nation.

7) No matter how hard working the people of a nation are, if they have an ignorant leader, the economy of that nation is sure to collapse.

8) It is ok for a nation with ignorant people to have an educated and skilful leader but it is totally dangerous to have an educated masses being ruled by an illiterate.

 9) A proficient leader will do his job and make things better for the masses but all you will get from a clueless leader is criticism and blame shifting.

10) Proficient leaders take responsibility for their nations/state/organization but an ignorant ruler will always give excuses.

11) The disgusting thing about closed minded leaders is that their mouth is always open.

12) Everyone seeking to lead must educate him/herself because ignorance is incompatible with leadership.

13) Educate yourself and strive to be the best in your field if you so desire to be a leader in that field.

14) When a nation is governed by a man who has no knowledge of where the nation should be heading, you can be rest assured that that nation will spend a longer time at one spot without making progress.

15) Hand over the company to a proficient leader and watch it grow but hand over the same to an ignorant leader and watch it regress.

16) It is a pity that roles have been reversed. The illiterates now lead the literates, the unskilled now lead the skilled and the unschooled the schooled.

17) No nation can move forward with its leader looking backward.

18) Leadership is creating a better future not fighting the past.

19) Woe unto any nation whose leader is a child in understanding but a man in malice.

 20) I am amazed that knowledgeable men are silent while ignorant men tear down their nation.

⁵ There is another evil I have seen as I have watched the world go by, a sad situation concerning kings and rulers: ⁶ For I have seen foolish men given great authority and rich men not given their rightful place of dignity! ⁷ I have even seen servants riding, while princes walk like servants! {Eccl 10:5-7 TLB}

THE LEADER MUST BE VISIONARY.

Leadership is the special ability to influence others. To lead you must have vision.

Vision is the ability to see beyond what others can see. Vision is the ability to dream big. Vision is to see with closed eyes what people with open eyes cannot see. Vision is to build empires in your mind by the power of imagination. Too many people have sight but only a few have vision.

Vision is the key to understanding leadership. To be a leader without a vision is to be a blind man leading other blind men.

Vision is what motivates followers to follow their leader’s dream. Every follower wants to be part of the team that accomplished the vision. Vision excites followers to be committed to work.

-If you must succeed in life then you must take time to determine exactly what it is you want to do with your life.

-An unexamined life is not worth living. Without a clear vision of your life, you are as good as a dead man.

-The secret of a successful life is to determine what is your purpose in life to do and then do it.

-To accomplish great things in life, you will have to first of all have a big dream.

What are your goals for the next 1,3,5…..10 years?

Until you answer the following questions, you are not yet ready to lead.

(1}What do I want to do?

(2)What do I want to be?

(3)What do I want to see?

(4)What do I want to have?

(5) Where do I want to go?

(6)What would I like to share?

Research shows that about 95% of people have never written out their goals in life. Of the 5% who have,95% have achieved their goals. In 1953 at Yale University, 3% of the graduating class had specific written goals for their lives. In 1975 research found out that the 3% who wrote down their goals had accomplished more than the other 97% put together.

GUIDELINES FOR GOAL SETTING

Your goals must include others

Your goals must be worthwhile

Your goals must be clear

Your goals must be measurable

Your goals must be expandable

Your goals must be filled with conviction

                     BENEFITS OF GOAL SETTING

(1)Goals make decision making process easier

When you know your direction in life after setting your goals, you can easily evaluate and make wise decisions. You no longer allow circumstances determine your direction

(2)Goals help mental and physical health

Most oil workers and government workers die after retirement because they failed to set goals for the future.

(3)Goals will make people respect you

People will naturally respect and follow any man who knows where he is going.

(4)Goals help you to feel fulfilled

Once you accomplish a project, you feel fulfilled and believe you can do more.

What you cannot measure. You cannot monitor

(5)Goals produce persistence

People who quit too easily are people who have no goals

(6)Goals deliver you from living in the past

When you have goals to accomplish, you cannot be deceived by the applause of your past glories. You will forget the things which are behind and reach out for the things which are ahead. Philippians 3:14
